Food security was discussed by Baku and Riga

The Chairman of the Food Safety Agency Azerbaijan (AQTA) Goshgar Tahmazli in Riga met with the Minister of Agriculture of Latvia Caspers Gerhard. The meeting was held as part of the 8th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation between the governments of Azerbaijan and Latvia, the agency’s press service said.

At the meeting, the parties noted the satisfactory level of relations, mutual interest in expanding and deepening bilateral cooperation. It was noted that there are favorable opportunities for long -term cooperation in all areas, including agricultural production and food security.

Minister Caspers Gerhards and AQTA chairman discussed issues that will be mutually beneficial for the development of relations, as well as existing potential and prospects in agricultural production and food security.

The meeting discussed the creation of a working group to accelerate import and export procedures between countries, eliminate difficulties, as well as establish mutual cooperation, facilitate the export of livestock products from Azerbaijan to the EU, and expand cooperation in the field of plant export in Latvia. The issues of the technical support of veterinary control at the state border and customs points of passing, strengthening and improving veterinary control at meat, dairy and fisheries enterprises of Azerbaijan, and preparation of specialized specialists in the field of veterinary and sanitary examination of raw materials and finished products at all stages were also discussed. production.

In addition, the parties discussed support for improving the process of registration of pesticides and fertilizers, online works in enterprises, introduction of animal identification and registration systems.
