For first time in history of independent Azerbaijan, elections were held throughout country

In Azerbaijan, on February 7, early presidential elections were held, in which seven candidates took part.

For the first time after the liberation of Karabakh and the first time after the country of independence gained voting throughout the territory of Azerbaijan.

since 1991, 8 presidential elections have been held in the country. The current election of the head of state became ninth in a row.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his family members voted in the city of Hankendi, which was once used by the Armenian invaders as the “capital” of the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

In the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, about 22 thousand people were included in the voter voters. Citizens of the republic came to polling stations in the city-symbol city of Karabakh Shushe, Khojaly, Khojavende, Agder, Agdham, Jebraile, Fizuli, Zangilan, Gubadly, Lacina and Kyalbyajare.

After the liberation from the Armenian occupation of Karabakh, as a result of the 44-day war of 2020, the region became the center of attracting investment.

Over the past three years, Azerbaijan has built two international airports in Karabakh – in Fizuli and Zangilan. Keys from houses were awarded hundreds of families returning to their native places Zangilan, Fizuli and Lacina after more than 30 years.

Turkish companies also take an active part in the restoration of infrastructure, implement projects in a number of sectors on Azerbaijani territories freed from the occupation.

Among these projects, the intellectual agricultural campus Dost Agrop in Zangilan can be distinguished. The basis of the project, which is the first investment of the private sector in Karabakh, was laid down by Turkish Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on October 26, 2021.

After the completion of the project in the complex, 500 people will be provided. The agricultural park will also contribute to the food security of Turkey and Azerbaijan.
