Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan announced prospects for normalizing ties with Armenia

The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jajun Bayramov announced the “discovery of prospects” for the process of normalizing ties with Armenia.

Speaking at the Caspian Connection Conference conference, organized by the Caspian political center in London, the head of Azerbaijani diplomacy noted that the normalization of relations with Yerevan is possible subject to mutual respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and irreversibility of borders.

He assured that Azerbaijan is determined to build a safer and more prosperous region.

In this context, the minister pointed out the importance of the opening of the Zangesur corridor for the development of transport and logistics routes. At the same time, he pointed out the difficulties that Yerevan creates on this path.

Yojihun Bayramov told the participants in the event about the possibilities that the Caspian basin opens, amid the growth of the significance of the transport routes passing through Central Asia and the Caspian Sea.

According to him, attention is paid to the diversification and modernization of the transport infrastructure of Azerbaijan, a number of transport infrastructure projects are being promoted to expand trade and logistics between Europe and Asia.

Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan is an active initiator and reliable partner of regional communication projects, such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the project of the Transkavkaz fiber-optic cable.

He noted that in 2022, transit through Azerbaijan increased by 75 percent, and expressed confidence that the discovery of all communications will contribute to the further sustainable world and stability in the region will significantly increase trade and transport.
