Foreign Minister of Ukraine: It’s time to turn Black Sea into NATO Sea

The time has come to turn the Black Sea into what the Baltic Sea became – NATO sea. According to Interpax Ukraine, this was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleb at the first Black Sea Conference on the Security of the International Crimean Platform in Bucharest.

According to him, at the upcoming Summit of the Alliance in Vilnius, it is necessary to take decisive steps on the path to Ukraine’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance.

“The war proved that the security of the region is indivisible. The threat to alone is a threat to everyone,” Kuleba said.

He emphasized that now the world has become obvious: fear is not a strategy, and it is necessary to develop a comprehensive security network for all countries throughout the region.

Kuleba said that Russia always had a strategy and acted every time the West doubted. “When the cautiousness moved by fear closed the doors of NATO for Ukraine and Georgia in 2008, the Russian Federation quickly answered, attacking both countries. The Russian Federation became a maniac, but some leaders decided then that the best strategy was to remain happy. Which also includes to leave His potential sacrifices are unarmed, ”said the Foreign Minister.

He also noted that the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius is “the right time to correct the mistakes of the past and take decisive steps on the path to Ukraine in NATO.” “To show that the door is not only open, but there is a clear plan of that – when and how Ukraine will enter it,” Kuleba said.

The minister added that it makes sense for Ukraine to become part of the European defense initiative, and he has already raised this issue in a conversation with the head of the EU diplomacy by Josep Borrel recently.
