Foreign Minister: Russia Offers Ukraine Meeting On June 2 In Istanbul

The delegation of the Russian Federation intends to present a memorandum in Istanbul on June 2 in Istanbul, which sets out the position of Russia on all key issues of resolving the root causes of the crisis. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, the Russian media reports.

According to the minister, the Russian side “in the shortest possible time prepared a document reflecting approaches to reliable overcoming the root causes of the conflict.”

Lavrov pointed out that the delegation of the Russian Federation, led by Vladimir Medinsky, is ready to present this memorandum to Ukrainian representatives and provide the necessary explanations during the second round of direct negotiations scheduled for Monday, June 2, in Istanbul.

In addition, Lavrov thanked Turkey for providing a site for negotiations, recalling that the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry Hakan Fidan confirmed this initiative during a recent visit to Moscow.

The minister expressed the hope that all parties really interested in promoting the peace process will support the resumption of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations in Istanbul.
