Foreign Ministry: attempts to violate boundaries of Azerbaijan are unacceptable

According to the information of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, on May 27, the reconnaissance-sabotage detachment of Armenian armed forces in two groups entered the territory of Azerbaijan in the direction of the village of Yuhara Ayrem Kelbajar district in the direction of the State Border of Azerbaijan with Armenia, tried to implement a sabotage-intelligence in this territory and sabotage terrorist activities – road mining.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these groups were discovered, part of the saboteurs escaped, 6 people (2 people from one group and 4 from the other) were neutralized and detained by the Azerbaijani army.

“Armenia has been implementing a policy of intentional strengthening of tension at the border areas of the two countries. Penetration of the intelligence group of Armenian Armed Forces into the territory of Azerbaijan, the mining of the territory and other diversion attempts are regarded as terrorist provocative actions.

Azerbaijan has suffered from mines established by the Armenian side for many years, and the next attempts to mining roads carried out by the Armenian sabotage group on the territory of Azerbaijan can present a serious threat to the lives of Azerbaijani military personnel and civilians.

Azerbaijan advocates tensions at the Armenian-Azerbaijan State Border through negotiations and supports the appeals of the international community to delimitation and demarcation of the borders between the two countries.

Attempts to violate the borders of Azerbaijan are unacceptable. Armenia should refrain from actions aimed at strengthening tensions on the border of the two countries, respecting the boundaries of the neighboring state, “the message is noted.
