French Foreign Minister Catherine Katrin Colonn admitted that relations between France and Algeria in the past were “painful”.
“Events that took place in the past between France and Algeria rarely delighted. It was a rather painful story,” said Foreign Minister on the air of the LCI television channel.
At the same time, the head of diplomacy recalled the return of the anti -French line to the national anthem of Algeria. “This decision was a complete surprise. The text of the anthem was written in the conditions of the Algerian War of Independence. Our anthem is also not good for good nature, it is even somewhat warlike,” the column said.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that Paris does not strive to forget his story and does not expect this from others.
