Foreign Ministry: Tajikistan contacts Moldova in investigation of incident at Chisinau airport

The Prosecutor General of Tajikistan is in contact with Moldavian colleagues in connection with the Chisinau at the Chisinau Airport with an armed incident with the participation of a Tajik citizen Rustam Ashurov, the press service of the country’s Foreign Ministry.

The Foreign Ministry noted that law enforcement officers of Tajikistan and responsible employees of the Republic of Republic’s Embassy in Moldova to interact with Moldavian colleagues were sent to Chisinau to find out all the circumstances of the incident.

“We pay attention to the official message of the Prosecutor General of Tajikistan that Rustam Ashurov is one of the participants in an organized criminal group involved in the abduction of the first deputy chairman of the Orienbank Tajikistan, the ministry said.

The Foreign Ministry expressed deep condolences to the families and relatives of the dead citizens of Moldova and confirmed the readiness of the Tajik side for close interaction.

As a result of shooting at Chisinau International Airport, two people were killed. A man who fired took several people hostage.

The shooter was detained during the operation of the special forces detachment. It turned out to be a citizen of Tajikistan Rustam Ashurov. At the Chisinau airport, when crossing the state border of Moldova, he was banned from entering the country.
