Foreign Ministry: Turkish Membership In Council Of FAO Will Speed Up Implementation Of Projects For Global Food Security

Türkiye was elected to the Council of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN (FAO) during the 44th session of the FAO conference, which is held in the capital of Italy Rome. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey in an official written statement.

The statement emphasizes that Türkiye has been supporting close cooperation with the FAO for many years. This, in particular, was facilitated by the opening of the FAO for Regional Office of Central Asia in Ankara, as well as the launch of the partnership programs FAO-Turisia.

The Ministry noted that the membership in the Council will allow Turkey to speed up the implementation of projects aimed at strengthening global food security.

“Türkiye will decisively continue to contribute to multilateral cooperation in the framework of the agenda in the field of sustainable development of the UN and the goal of” zero hunger “by 2030, the statement said.
