Forest fires that flashed in the American state of California in the districts of San Luis-Obipo and Riverside, covered more than 22 thousand hectares, the department of forestry and fire protection of California (Cal Fire) reports.
According to information on the website of the department, the fire that began on July 2 in San Luis-Obipo district spread to about 21,300 hectares. At the moment, only 10% of the fire managed to localize.
The fire in the Riverside district, which broke out on June 29, covered about 1000 hectares, and according to the latest data, it was localized by 65%.
According to The New York Times, the representative of Cal Fire Tony Davis said that there are 50 buildings at the risk zone, and 208 people were evacuated.
According to Davis, burning terrain is agricultural land with crossed terrain, pastures and dry vegetation, which contributes to the rapid spread of fire.
Ecologist Dave Hacker from the Department of Pisces and Wildlife California said that the fire affected the protected natural territory of Carrizo Plains. According to him, the fire destroyed most of the habitat of the herd of deer living in the south of this reserve.
