Former club Abramovich gave money to Armed Forces

The Ukrainian football club Shakhtar will spend a billion hryvnia ($ 25 million) received from the transfer of midfielder Mikhail Mudrick in the British FC Chelsea, to the aid of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was announced by the president of Shakhtar, businessman Rinat Akhmetov, specifying that the money will go to the defenders of Mariupol and the families of the dead military. For this, the project “The Heart of Azovstali” will be created.

On the eve of the 22-year-old Mudrik concluded a contract with Chelsea for 8.5 years. The transfer amount amounted to € 70 million, another € 30 million is provided as bonuses. The deal became record in the history of Ukrainian football, writes Moscow Times. Mudrick will play at number 15. On Sunday, January 15, he was presented to fans during the break of the home match with Crystal Palace: Mudrik went on the field, wrapped in the Ukrainian flag. Football player is a pupil of Shakhtar.

Mudrika was going to buy another British club – Arsenal, but Chelsea intercepted it at the last moment, voicing more favorable conditions. Mudrik will receive more than £ 100,000 per week against £ 50,000 originally proposed by Arsenal.

Until May, Chelsea belonged to the Russian businessman Roman Abramovich. He was forced to sell Chelsea after the outbreak of war in Ukraine: the billionaire fell under the sanctions of Great Britain as the “oligarch close to Vladimir Putin,” which is why the club was threatened with ruin. The new owner of the team was a group of investors led by American billionaire Todd Boeli.
