Former Wagner commander explained executions of captured Ukrainians

The former commander of one of the Vagner PMCs Andrey Medvedev, who requested political asylum in Norway, spoke about the murders of captured Ukrainians. He claims that prisoners of war are interested in PMC only as sources of information, and after interrogations they are executed. This is reported by Radio Liberty.

According to Medvedev, PMC has a special detachment that is engaged in executions of both guilty mercenaries and Ukrainians. In particular, he knows about the murder of four Ukrainian military personnel who voluntarily surrendered near Bakhmut. According to him, all four were shot after the interrogation of the Klinovaya village in the Donetsk region.

Evgeny Prigozhin, in response to the request of the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten, stated that Medvedev has Norway citizenship and he was part of the “Norwegian PMC Battalion, entitled” Nidhegg “(the name of the dragon from Scandinavian mythology, citizenship information is not confirmed by any open sources – Ed. .). Prigozhin claims that Medvedev should be held accountable for cruelty to prisoners and is on the wanted list of the security service of PMCs.

Andrei Medvedev concluded a contract with Vagner’s PMC in July 2022, but a few months later he quit, according to him, due to disagreement with the “meaningless war and the lawlessness of the command.” On January 13, he crossed the border in the Murmansk region and asked for political asylum in Norway.
