The Russian Foreign Ministry protested the leadership of the French Embassy in Moscow in connection with the detention of a Russian diplomat at the Paris airport. This was reported by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova at a briefing.
“What happened on April 6 at Charles de Gaulle airport is not subject to any explanation,” Zakharova said, noting that the Russian side demanded an explanation from Paris.
“The French border service without explanation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, a member of the Russian official delegation, withdrawing its phone and computer. The Russian Embassy immediately sent a consular employee to the airport. Our diplomat had to expect almost 7 hours of access and admission to a colleague that arrived in France as part of an official delegation,” Zakharov said.
At the same time, the diplomat drew attention to the fact that the French side issued a visa to a Russian employee for a business trip, and then arranged “all this shameful performance.”
