French virologist: COVID will soon become a common cold

The “evolutionary potential” of the COVID-19 virus is on its way to completion, French Science Council member virologist Bruno Lin said on Franceinfo, Le Figaro reports.

“When he comes to this end, he will return to the ranks of the usual seasonal viruses that cause colds or mild infectious diseases,” the French specialist assured.

According to Lina, “post-infectious and post-vaccination” immunity begins to influence the virus. “If he wants to continue to spread in the human population, he must adapt and develop. And this is exactly what he is doing now,” the virologist assures, referring to the emergence of new variants.

“Perhaps we are in a phase where this virus has finished its evolution, and now we are approaching the end of the pandemic phase to return to the phase of imperceptible circulation,” suggests Lina.
