Russia from May 15, 2023 cancels the visa regime for Georgian citizens, with the exception of persons entering the Russian Federation for the purpose of labor activity.
The corresponding decree of the President of the Russian Federation was published on May 10 on the portal of legal information.
The document establishes that “from May 15, 2023, Georgian citizens enter into the Russian Federation and exit from the Russian Federation without registration of visas on the basis of existing identification documents”.
The exception is “citizens entering the Russian Federation in order to carry out labor activities or for a period of more than 90 days, including for the purpose of obtaining education”.
In accordance with the Decree of May 15, Georgian citizens sent to the Russian Federation as employees of the Georgian interest section under the Switzerland embassy in Russia, and their families are drawn up for three months for three months. After accreditation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, such persons enter into entry and departure from Russia without registration of visas.
The decree entered into force from the date of its signing.
The President of the Russian Federation also canceled the Decree of June 21, 2019 on the ban on air transportation from the territory of the Russian Federation to the territory of Georgia.
