Fugitive Russian banker received asylum in Ukraine

Fugitive former co-owner of the BFG-Credit bank and film producer Yuri Glotser, arrested in absentia in Russia and put on the international wanted list for embezzlement and fraud, received political asylum in Ukraine. This is reported by TASS with reference to a law enforcement source.

According to the agency’s interlocutor, Glotser was also excluded from the Interpol wanted list. In Ukraine, he filed a lawsuit against a Russian investigator, who is pursuing a criminal case against him for embezzlement. The former banker intends to challenge the circumstances of the criminal prosecution in Russia in a Ukrainian court.

In August 2020, the Basmanny Court of Moscow in absentia chose a preventive measure against Yuri Glotser in the form of arrest as part of a criminal case on embezzlement and fraud, which led to embezzlement in BFG-credit.
