Garibashvili: Relations of Georgia with Azerbaijan are tested by time

Relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan are tested by time. Tbilisi and Baku jointly implemented very important historical projects, said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, speaking at plenary discussion as part of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

According to the Prime Minister, Azerbaijan and Georgia are connected by rail and highways, the Baku -Tbilisi -Kars railway is a strategically important transport project for two countries. “Now we are implementing a project to modernize the railway, which will increase the throughput to 48 million tons of cargo by 2024. The project implemented together with Azerbaijan is the expansion of the Baku -Tbilisi -Kars railway, which is now in the implementation stage. More recently, Azerbaijan has provided additional funding for this project. We expect that it will also be ready by 2024. This will provide an increase in the cargo flow to 5 million tons, ”the media quote Garibashvili.
