Garybashvili: Georgia will not calm down until it joins European Union and NATO

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili during a speech at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly confirmed Tbilisi’s desire to enter the European Union and NATO.

“We will not calm down until they reach the membership in the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance,” said Garybashvili, whose text was distributed by the press service of Georgia Prime Minister.

Prime Minister reported that European and Euro-Atlantic integration supports the absolute majority of the Georgian population. “We have prepared a comprehensive action plan that contains such initiatives and reforms that will provide an application for EU entry into EU” by 2024, “he said.

Garibashvili also accused Russia in attempts to prevent the aspirations of Georgia “to the European and Euro-Atlantic family” and in the failure to comply with the cease-fire agreement from August 12, 2008.

Garybashvili confirmed Georgia’s commitment to the politics of the peaceful settlement of conflicts and turned to the residents of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. “We have a common story, and we are part of the common homeland – Georgia. Therefore, together we must determine our total future. Together and peacefully we have to build our country so that it becomes truly democratic, prosperous and future-oriented European society,” – He said the head of the Government of Georgia.
