Gas From Turkey To Aleppo Will Strengthen Energy Infrastructure Of Syria

Türkiye plans to establish gas supplies to Syria for three months in the amount of 6 million cubic meters per day in order to improve the country’s energy infrastructure.

As Anadol reports with reference to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, natural gas, the annual supplies of which are planned to be carried out in the amount of 2 billion cubic meters, will be used to generate electricity in Syria.

Energy infrastructure in Syria was destroyed as a result of a civil war, lasting for 13 years. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 16 million people need 16 million people in urgent medical care in the country after the fall of the BAAS regime.

And in this regard, Türkiye attaches great importance to the restoration of Syria. The country has the possibilities for carrying out activities in the field of exploration of oil and natural gas, drilling, processing, restoring power lines and power plants, reconstruction of petrochemical and mining plants.

The first official contacts of the Minister of Energy of Syria Muhammad al-Bashira in Turkey in early May and his emphasis on the ongoing support of Syria from Ankara since the beginning of the revolution in the Arab Republic of Arab, and energy work in the field of energy will continue accelerated pace. The volume of electricity supplies between the two countries is about 200 megavatts. In the near future, it is planned to add another 300-400 megavatts to this volume.

Electricity generation is important for Syria, and its lack leads to the use of mobile and diesel generators. The statement of the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Alparlan Bayractar that for three months from Turkey to Syria, gas in the amount of 6 billion cubic meters per day, in order to generate electricity, attracted attention to the preparation of infrastructure. As the gas pipeline approaches in the Turkish province of Kilis to the Syrian border, work on the creation of infrastructure was accelerated on the opposite side. Bayractar said that gas would enter Aleppo through Kilis. “In some sense, we will supply fuel for the gas power plants of this country in this way,” he said.

“Syria is determined to solve its energy problem”

In an interview with anadol correspondent, the President of the Turkish Center for Studies of Energy Strategies and Politics (Tespam) Oghuzhan Akyener said that Türkiye is selling electricity and natural gas with many countries.

According to him, the supply of electricity to different countries is important for the system of electric networks in terms of alleviating the situation.
