The supply of Russian gas to China through the Siberian Strength gas pipeline began in 2019 as part of a long-term gas and sale agreement between Gazprom and the Chinese company CNPC. Every year, starting in 2020, deliveries are used with excess of Gazprom’s annual contract obligations.

December 1, 2024 – at the request of Chinese partners a month earlier than the initial term – daily supplies for the Siberian Strength gas pipeline were brought to the maximum contract level. From this moment on, three new historical records of daily gas supplies to China on Siberia’s strength were recorded.

According to the results of 2024, the growth of Gazprom pipeline supplies amounted to more than 35% and provided the coverage of about a quarter of additional gas demand in China.
