General dismissed by Pashinyan was sent to reserve

Former First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Tiran Khachatryan has been sent to the personnel reserve.

“After the presidential decree on dismissal from office, the Minister of Defense signed an order according to which Khachatryan was sent to the reserve,” said Andranik Kocharian, head of the Defense and National Security Commission of the Armenian Parliament, Interfax reports.

On March 4, Khachatryan appealed to the administrative court with a demand to invalidate the decree of Armenian President Armen Sargsyan on his dismissal.

The situation in Armenia sharply escalated on February 25 after the General Staff of the Armed Forces issued a statement demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the government. This statement came after the President of Armenia signed a decree on February 24 on the release of Khachatryan from the post of First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces. According to the presidential press service, the release decree was signed at the suggestion of Pashinyan.
