Georgia will supply Azerbaijani liquefied gas to European Union

Georgian authorities, in partnership with Azerbaijan, began to develop a project for the construction of a liquefied gas terminal for its subsequent exports to the European Union countries, said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economics and Sustainable Development of the Republic Levan Davitashvili.

The first step in the path to the implementation of the gas supply project to Europe is to assess the corresponding infrastructure in the territories of Georgia and Azerbaijan, said Davitashvili, the Georgian media write.

“Based on the current processes, when Europe is especially interested in alternative sources of gas supplies, when everyone talks about diversification of energy supply, this project will receive particular relevance,” said Davitashvili.

The energy project provides for the transit of Azerbaijani gas through the territory of Georgia through the Black Sea in a living form to Romania, from where the energy carrier will enter Hungary and other Eastern European countries.
