The European Union announced the consent of the ruling and opposition parties of Georgia to sign the agreement proposed by Brussels on overcoming the internal political crisis in this country. This was written on Twitter head of the European Council Charles Michel.

“Agreement in Georgia. Congratulations to the political leaders who have signed an agreement on the exit from the current crisis,” he wrote.

Sputnik Georgia writes that representatives of the ruling party “Georgian Dream” and opposition held talks. After the meeting, the signing ceremony of the agreement proposed by the President of the European Council is held.

A new version of the document prepared in the mediation of the head of the European Council of Michel, as well as its previous option, consists of five points. However, there were substantial adjustments in two of them – the conditions for early elections appeared, as well as the release of people called political prisoners.

First – early parliamentary elections in Georgia will be appointed in 2022 if in October 2021 in elections to the local government bodies of the Georgian Dream will receive less than 43% of the votes for the proportional system.

and the second – within one week after signing the agreement, the party presented in Parliament should initiate a law on amnesty in Parliament, which will affect all violations and detentions related to protests June 19-21, 2019.

In Georgia, the sixth month continues the political crisis. In November last year, the opposition refused to recognize the results of the autumn parliamentary elections, accusing the authorities in falsifying the voting results. Until now, most of the opponents of the authorities refuse to work in the new parliament.
