Georgian authorities explained why they did not go to Kyiv

The absence of the official Georgian delegation at events in Kiev on the occasion of the anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is connected with the statements of the political leadership of Ukraine, all the self-respecting authorities would have done, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili told reporters. His words are given by Georgian media.

Earlier on Friday, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili expressed regret by the fact that representatives of the ruling party “Georgian dream – Democratic Georgia” did not accept the invitation of the Rada of Ukraine and as a result of the Georgian delegation in Kiev is represented by oppositions. At the same time, she noted that she expressed her readiness to go to Ukraine, but did not receive the invitation.

“We act in accordance with the national interests of our country. I mentioned that we have joined more than 400 resolutions, statements … If anyone has a desire to make more, say, a trip to Kiev, then everyone is free and we are not free and no one We limit it, ”says Garibashvili.

On the other hand, against the background of those statements that are heard from the political leadership of Ukraine, any self -respecting government and the authorities would have acted as the leadership of Georgia acts, the prime minister believes. “We protect our country’s interests of our people. And at the same time, we protect the interests of the Ukrainian people, and once again express solidarity to them,” Garibashvili said.

Moreover, the head of the Georgian government called the “completely unjustified” military operations in Ukraine and accused Russia at their beginning. “We help our Ukrainian brothers and sisters as much as possible, supported more than 400 international resolutions and statements, on behalf of Georgia, our Foreign Minister in New York at the UN General Assembly,” Garibashvili said.
