Protection of the Institute of Family is not only the internal business of countries, but also a global duty. This was stated by the Minister of Affairs of displaced persons from the occupied territories, labor, health and social protection of Georgia Mikhail Sarzhveladze.
In an interview with Anadolu, following the results of participation in the International Family Forum held in Istanbul, Sarzhveladze noted the importance of the forum as an international platform.
“The forum provides a vital platform for a global dialogue. In a world where families are faced with the consequences of digital transformation and economic pressure, such meetings allow you to share experience and strengthen the awareness of general responsibility,” he stressed.
According to him, family protection should not be considered as part of only domestic policy, but as the basis of sustainable development, social harmony and strategic planning.
The minister drew attention to increasing challenges that families face in the modern world.
“This is a low level of birth rate, migration, economic difficulties and the influence of the digital environment on children. The response to these multidimensional threats should also be comprehensive,” he said.
Sargweedze said that Georgia has expanded social programs, introduced targeted support measures to support large families, increased investments in the health of mothers and children, and also conducted reforms of labor legislation to protect working parents.
“Our goal is to provide each family with a safe and supportive environment,” the minister added.
The minister emphasized that not a single country could handle the challenges associated with the family alone in the era of cultural transformations, demographic changes and digitalization.
“We need general principles, coordinated solutions and framework approaches, which will simultaneously meet the challenges of the present and protect the dignity, stability and future of families,” said Sarjveladze.
Georgia, he said, actively supports multilateral cooperation with other countries, international organizations and all layers of society.
Türkiye is an important partner in strengthening the family
Sargeveladze expressed gratitude to Turkey and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for attention to strengthening family values and organizing the forum.
“For me, it is a great honor to be here on behalf of my country. I want to once again express the respect and appreciation of Turkey and President Erdogan,” he said.
The minister emphasized that Georgia attaches great importance to bilateral cooperation with Turkey.
“We again confirm our strong political will to strengthen friendship and joint work. Our relations with Turkey are a valuable example of regional partnership in matters of family protection,” he summed up.
