Georgian Prime Minister: Turkey is one of main players on global scale

Over the past 100 years, Turkey has become one of the main political and economic players at both the regional and global level. This was stated by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, speaking at a reception organized by the Turkish Embassy in Tbilisi on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Turkish Republic.

The reception was also attended by Turkish ambassador to Tbilisi Ali Kaan Orbai, Georgian ministers, members of parliament, diplomats, representatives of Turkish institutions in Georgia, religious figures, Turkish entrepreneurs and other guests.

Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister of Georgia called Turkey a modern country.

“From the moment of its founding, this great country and the nation have encountered many difficulties on the path to becoming a modern, industrial and developed state,” he said.

Garibashvili noted that Turkey is one of the most important countries in both the regional and international arena.

“Over the past 100 years, Turkey has become one of the main political and economic players in both regional and global scale,” he stressed.

affecting the topic of bilateral interaction between Turkey and Georgia, Garibashvili expressed satisfaction with the fact that both countries connect the unique bonds of friendship and brotherhood. “Our countries continued cooperation, which in stages grew into a strong strategic partnership,” said the Georgian Prime Minister.

Garibashvili recalled that Türkiye is the largest trading partner of Georgia. “We expect that by the end of the year the annual trade volume between the two countries will reach $ 3 billion,” the prime minister said.

According to him, more than 10 thousand Turkish companies operate in Georgia. In three years alone, the volume of direct Turkish investments in Georgia reached $ 370 million, Garibashvili said.

Turkey and Georgia are also closely cooperating in the matter of the implementation of energy and infrastructure projects connecting Asia and Europe, the prime minister added.
