German Embassy in Azerbaijan responded to request of HAQQIN.AZ: “The Government of Germany is not known about intervention of Azerbaijan”

As noted in the article by the source of pollution, which has reached the critical level, are two Armenian mining enterprises located in the Syunik region (historic Zangezur) – Zangezur’s copper-molybdenum plant and a cafian mining and processing plant.

According to available information, the Congressian copper-molybdenum plant, which operates the Kajaran mine, is a subsidiary of the German company Cronimet Holding GmbH.

In this regard, the editorial office of Haqqin.az appealed to the appropriate interested German authorities with a request to comment on this non-aggative situation. Requests were sent to the German Foreign Ministry and to the German Embassy in Azerbaijan.

In recent years, in the media of Germany, the publications of an anti-organiza chart. However, at the same time, German media, as a rule, do not provide the stands for expressing the position of the Government of Azerbaijan.

haqqin.az, adhering to democratic standards and journalistic ethics expressed his readiness to submit to the court of his reader audience the position of the Government of Germany.

Although HAQQIN.AZ still has many more questions on the activities of the German company in Armenia. And most likely, in the coming days, we will return to this question to this Azerbaijani public.

Thus, our request came from the German Embassy to Baku, which states that the German company Cronimet Holding GmbH no longer owns the actions of the aforementioned mining enterprise.

We give a completely answer, which was sent to our editorial board by the press service of the German Embassy on behalf of the FRG ambassador in Azerbaijan, Dr. Wolfgang Maniga:

“Embassy of Germany in Baku thanks the Azerbaijani media for attention to the problem of contamination of transboundary waters. The German Embassy is aware of the concrete issue covered by German media. For example, in April 2019, Armenian environmental activists staged a protest action against various mining companies.

German Embassy contributes to cross-border cooperation between civil societies of Azerbaijan and Armenia. Cooperation between Azerbaijanis and Armenians in the field of cross-border environmental protection clearly shows that mutual interest in a clean environment unites Azerbaijanis and Armenians more than conflicts of recent decades.

According to the German Embassy in Baku, the German company owning the shares of the mine in Armenia, sold its share of local investors at the end of 2019. The recent increase in the level of emissions of pollutants in the Okhachha River, which was covered in the Azerbaijani media, should report new owners. German Embassy in Baku does not have information about these owners.

Federal Government does not know anyone about the intervention of the government of Azerbaijan in this question. Members of the Bundestag of Germany also did not appeal to the federal government about this. “
