German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful said that making Syria a safe and stable country is important for Germany and Europe.
“Syria can once again play an active role in the region,” he said.
According to the official Syrian news agency SANA, German Foreign Minister Wadeful stressed at a press conference in Damascus that Germany supports sovereignty, unity and stability Syria.
Wadeful noted in his speech: “Contributing to the reconstruction of Syria is our responsibility. Germany supports the lifting of economic sanctions on Syria and encourages German companies to invest in Syria.”
According to him, Germany will continue to support humanitarian and medical organizations: “We trust the approach of the new Syrian government. We want to strengthen our relationship.”
He stressed that turning Syria into a safe and stable country is of great importance for Germany and Europe.
Recalling that about a million Syrians live in Germany, Wadeful said: “Today I am in Damascus because I want to strengthen relations between the two countries and renew our support for a secure future for Syria.”
The German Foreign Minister said that he had seen the destruction in Syria, and concluded his speech with the following words:
