Germany and United States discussed military support of Ukraine

The Minister of Defense of Germany Christine Lambrecht discussed by phone with her American colleague Lloyd Austin issues of coordination of military support of Kyiv, the German defense department said.

Negotiations were held in preparation for the upcoming January 20 meeting in the format “Ramstein” (contact group in Ukraine).

“The main topics of the discussion were the current military situation in Ukraine and the coordination of further military support,” the message says.

The Ministry of Defense of Germany reported that it was about the issues of providing Kyiv BMP and the air defense system (air defense) Patriot.

“Together and in close coordination with our American allies, we take the next step in the support of Ukraine,” the words of Lambrecht are given.

“I discussed with my American colleague the question of how Germany can expand its contribution to the air defense through the supply of Patriot air defense system, including a set of ammunition,” she said.

The minister added that the topic of negotiations was also the supply of BMP of Western production.
