Germany: Disappointed In Connection With Position Of Russian Federation Regarding Ceasefire Regime

German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz expressed disappointment in connection with the position of the Russian Federation regarding the ceasefire. Mertz said this on the sidelines of the 6th Summit of the European Political Community in Tiran, the capital of Albania, communicating with the leaders of France, Poland and Great Britain.

He noted that for the second time in a few days he was talking with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky regarding the course of negotiations regarding the ceasefire with Russia.

According to Chancellor, the same issue was again discussed in the tyrant.

“We agree that the Russian side had a good opportunity to start the first negotiations on the conclusion of a peace agreement with a ceasefire. However, we are very disappointed that this did not happen. The ball was completely on the side of Russia. All the conditions for a good first round of negotiations were evident,” he said.

Merts emphasized that diplomatic efforts have still unsettled due to the reluctance of Russia to take the first steps in the right direction.

“We will continue to act in close coordination with the Americans,” he added.
