Gorbachev removed responsibility for collapse of Union: others are guilty

The last head of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev said that members of the GCCP, the organizers of the August coup, as well as the signatory agreements, are guilty of the USSR, as well as the signifies of Belovezhsky Agreements, Interfax reports.

“The organizers of the coup, trying to justify, argued that they were concerned about the conservation of the country, but the consequences of their adventures were catastrophic. They carry a huge share of responsibility for the collapse of the country,” Gorbachev said on the eve of the 30-year anniversary of the August coup.

He believes that due to the coup, its possibilities as president of the USSR were weakened to prevent the collapse of the country.

Also Gorbachev also mentioned Boris Yeltsin, Stanislav Shushkevich and Leonid Kuchma – signatories of Belovezhsky agreements.

“Republic adopted the declaration of independence. But there was still a chance to preserve the Union on an updated basis. However, in December, the second strike was followed: Belovezhsky sediment of the leaders of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, who declare the cessation of the USSR existence,” said Gorbachev.

The last head of the Soviet Union also stated that because of the ticks, the population of Russia and other republics had a stereotype that he was guilty of the collapse of the USSR.
