The British Ministry of Defense announced that it would transfer to Ukraine 350 improved small missiles of the Air-Air-air class ASRAAM, adapted for starting from ground installations. The supply was funded by 70 million pounds (about 3.8 billion Turkish lires) due to interest income from Russian assets frozen in the United Kingdom as part of the Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA).
According to the agency, for three months, rockets, originally designed to launch from fighters, were adapted for a ground launch from batteries based on military trucks. They will be part of the Raven mobile system, previously delivered to Kyiv (eight units), and will be supplemented by five more lane machines.
Prime Minister Cyrus Starmer said: “Ukraine should not pay for the illegal and barbaric war unleashed by Vladimir Putin; Russia must pay. Use incomes from the arrested Russian assets to strengthen Ukrainian air defense – an absolutely correct step.”
Minister of Defense John Hili emphasized that in order to achieve the world, Kyiv should have the most strong positions: “The imminent missile and drone blows of Russia in Ukrainian cities show that Putin is not tuned to the world. Therefore, we have the right to direct income from frozen Russian assets to protect Ukraine from this bloodshed.”
In the message of the Moscow Region, London already pledged to put to Ukraine a total of 5,000 missiles of various types.
