Greece handed over to US Port Alexanderopolis

Greece authorities were transferred to the United States to the unused port of Alexander Port, which now serves as the basis for storing heavy weapons. It is reported by New York Times.

According to the report, since last year, the number of military equipment transferred to the United States through Alexanderopolis has jumped almost 14 times.

The port is put up for privatization, and, according to the New York Times, four companies apply to it, two of which are associated with Russia. One of the bidders is a group of Russian -Greek oligarch Ivan Savvidis, who worked in the parliament of the Russian Federation and was part of the Committee on International Relations. Another trading participant is a subsidiary of the Greek conglomerate Copelouzos Group, which is a local partner of the Russian Gazprom. Two more potential buyers are American enterprises.

The port is located in the city of Alexanderopolis near the border with Turkey.
