All Greek companies – importers of Russian gas transferred to a new payment for Gazprom, there will be no termination of supplies, RIA Novosti source in the industry told RIA Novosti.
“All Greek buying companies switched to payment in rubles,” said the interlocutor of the agency.
The country has three main importers – Depa Commerce, Mytilineos, Prometheus Gas. Deliveries from Russia account for from 45% to 55% of imports depending on the season. Experts believe that it will not be possible to replace Russian gas with any other sources in the coming years.
“The term of payment for April gas supplies occurs on May 25. Therefore, it is necessary that the money is on the special account on May 23. Two days are required to convert to rubles and for transferring money from one account to another. For this, payment should be received in the euro May, ”the source explained.
Commenting on the publications of the Greek press that if the supply of Russian gas is stopped, the Greek authorities will be forced to turn off electricity due to a lack of capacities, the agency’s interlocutor said: “There will be no termination of supplies, everything is fine.”
