Greenpeace And Amnesty Held Rally In Berlin On Eve Of World Refugees Day

Activists of the Greenpeace environmental organization and international amnesty held a joint action in Berlin on the eve of World Refugees, which is celebrated on June 20. The purpose of the action is to draw attention to refugee rights and call the authorities of Germany to a more humane migration policy.

On the Shprai River, next to the Bundestag building, activists placed posters with slogans: “Human rights are extended to everyone,” “Protect the right to asylum”, “the climatic crisis knows no boundaries.” One of the banners was decorated in the form of torn barbed wire – a symbol of destroyed boundaries.

In a common statement, the participants accused the German government of not having enough distant from racist and anti -human rhetoric on the topic of migration.

AMNESTY International representative Sofia Shaitt said that “instead of making the goats from the refugees for the failures of social policy, it is necessary to change the narrative and form a policy that resolutely confronts the atmosphere of fear.”

Due to the action that took place on the canoe on the River of the Spree, the movement of water transport in the area of the building of the Federal Assembly was temporarily suspended.
