Hakan Fidan: Forces Pursuing Separatist Goals Under Pretext Of Fighting Daesh In Syria Must Abandon This Line

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said: “The SDF, which is pursuing a separatist agenda under the pretext of fighting Daesh, must abandon this line of behavior.”

Fidan spoke at a joint press conference after a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Assad Hassan Sheibani at the Foreign Ministry in Ankara.

Chapter The Turkish Foreign Ministry said that the international community must change the way it fights Daesh. He stressed that the Syrian government is ready to conduct coordinated operations against Daesh.

“We must all help Syria to ensure that this will is supported with the necessary capabilities and capabilities. Turkey will continue to contribute to the development of the Syrian government’s capabilities to combat Daesh. In this regard, the SDF, pursuing a separatist agenda under the guise of fighting Daesh, must abandon this strategy,” Fidan emphasized.

The minister said that during today’s meeting with his Syrian counterpart, all these issues and measures that can be taken for the speedy and full implementation of the agreement of March 10 were discussed in detail. “As we emphasize every time, the security of Syria, with which we share 911 square kilometers of border, is of key importance for the security of Turkey. Factors that threaten the security of Syria also pose a security threat to our country.”

Fidan stressed that the SDF acts differently, guided by other motives, and should not resort to hypocrisy. He added that it is necessary to find a solution that will be beneficial for both sides and will contribute to the unity and integrity of Syria.

Turkey hopes for a peaceful solution to this problem, which is very important: “It is important that no terrorist organization takes advantage of the situation in Syria and poses a threat neither to the countries of the region nor to us.”

According to him, Türkiye has been facing a threat for many years. Terrorist organizations that do not have a refuge in Turkey are forced to leave the country, where they create their structures and conduct operations against Turkey.

“We have decided to completely put an end to this system. We respond to the threat where it arises and closely monitor the situation. We do not want it, both inside and outside Turkey, to negatively affect fate region. In this matter, all parties must fulfill their responsibilities,” said Hakan Fidan.
