Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held telephone conversations with his Iraqi, Saudi and Egyptian colleagues.
During telephone conversations, the Foreign Minister discussed a provocation with today’s desecration of the Qur’an in front of the Iraq Embassy in Stockholm.
Hakan Fidan and Foreign Ministers of Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Egypt exchanged views on the mobilization of the organization of Islamic cooperation (OIS) and joint measures that must be taken in connection with the growth of anti -Islamic provocations and crimes on the basis of hatred against Islam in Europe.

July 12, the UN Council on Human Rights (HRC) condemned acts of burning the Qur’an.
The draft resolution with condemning acts of defilement of the Qur’an was discussed at the 53rd session of the HRC in Geneva at a special session conducted on the initiative of the organization of Islamic cooperation. 47 countries took part in the vote.
28 countries voted for the adopted document, 12 opposed, 7 abstained.
Algeria, Argentina, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Cameroon, China, Cot-D’Ivoire, Cuba, Eritrea, Gabon, Gambia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Morocco, Pakistan, Qatar, Senegal, Somalia, South Africa, Combined Araba, United Arabes, United Arabes, United Arabes, United Arabes Stan and Vietnam voted for the adoption of the resolution.
Belgium, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Romania, Great Britain and the United States voted against.
Paraguay, Nepal, Mexico, Honduras, Georgia, Benin and Chile abstained.
On July 20, the Turkish Foreign Ministry most decisively condemns today’s vile defilement of the Holy Book of the Qur’an in front of the Iraq Embassy in Stockholm.
“We expect Sweden, within the framework of its international obligations, especially obligations to the UN, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the Council of Europe, will take the necessary measures to prevent crimes on the basis of hatred against Islam and billions of its followers.”
Foreign Ministry claims that Turkey supports efforts and continues to work together with all countries that oppose Islamophobia, xenophobia, racism and discrimination.
