Turkey is determined to continue to defend the just cause of the Turkish Cypriots and promote the only realistic solution to the Cyprus issue – recognition of the existence of two states on the island.
This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, commenting on the presidential elections taking place today in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
In a publication on On his page on the social network of the Turkish platform NSosyal, the head of the foreign ministry expressed the hope that the presidential elections held today in the TRNC will bring benefits to the Turkish Cypriots and the entire island.
“We are confident that these elections will once again demonstrate the state traditions and culture of democracy in the TRNC. The guarantor country Türkiye will continue to be the defender of a fair affairs of the Turkish Cypriots and on all international platforms to emphasize in the strongest possible terms that the only realistic solution to the Cyprus issue is the recognition of the existence of two separate states on the island,” Fidan emphasized.
On Sunday, October 19, the citizens of the TRNC will elect the country’s president for the ninth time.
