The Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Gasanov, as part of a visit to Iran, met on Tuesday, January 25, with the head of the General Staff of Sun Iri Mohammad Hossaine Baghery, reports IRNA.
During the meeting, Baghery stated that Iran and Azerbaijan have a lot in terms of history, religion, language.
“The policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to develop connections with the neighbors. We are striving for closer relations with Azerbaijan,” said the head of the General Staff, expressing the hope that Zakira Hasanov’s visit to Tehran would be a good opportunity to develop and strengthen bilateral relations.
General Baghery also stressed that Iran is an opponent of any occupation.
The liberation of the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, which occurred after three decades, pleased the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the entire people of Iran, “he said and added that Iran belongs to the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan with the same trepidation as its own.
