Head of Interpol is accused of involvement in torture: investigation has begun

French Justice launched an investigation against President Interpol Ahmed Nasera Ar-Rasisi, who is accused of involvement in torture, reports France-Presse (AFP) with reference to sources familiar with the case.

According to sources, the investigation was started in late March after a complaint filed by two British. The National Anti -Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT) of France also confirmed that after receiving the complaint, she instructed the Parisian investigation to conduct an investigation. The agency notes that the activities of Ar-Risi are already an object of preliminary investigation of PNAT in connection with other accusations.

It was previously reported that on January 19, the National Anti -Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office of France received a complaint against President Interpol. Ar-Risi was accused of torture and acts of inhuman appeal, including against the human rights activist from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ahmed Mansur, the media reported. The complaint was filed by the non -governmental organization “Center for Human Rights in the Persian Gulf countries” (GCHR). Before that, they had already filed a similar complaint against him, but it was rejected, since Ar-Risi did not live in France and was outside the jurisdiction of the French anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office.
