The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Fatikh Donmes did not exclude imminent positive news about oil reserves from the deposit in the area of Mount Gabar in the Southeast Province of Shirnak.
“Work on drilling and evaluating well reserves is nearing the end. The first data estimates are positive, but we are waiting for the final results. The president [Record Tayyip Erdogan] will share with the people,” the minister said, commenting on the continuing work in Shirnaka.
According to the minister, the efforts to explore domestic deposits continue both at sea and on land.
, as an example, Donmes cited the Sakarya gas field in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea discovered in 2022. At the same time, oil reserves were discovered in the Chukurov area in the province of Adan.
“Last year, the Esma Chevik deposit was discovered in Shirnak with an oil supply of 180 million barrels,” the minister recalled.
