Head of US command in Europe will be replaced by an expert in Russia

The US administration plans frame permutations among the military command, reports The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). In particular, the American authorities will change the commander on their own in Europe, as well as the head of the Command of Sun Operations USA (SOCOM).

According to the newspaper, General of the Walters, commander of the United States Armed Forces in Europe and the European Command of the US Armed Forces, will change the Christopher Cavoli, which is now held by the Army Commander in Europe and Africa.

“General Christopher Cavoli, the current commander of the US Army in Europe, must lead the European Command of the United States, which is responsible for all US military operations on the continent,” – Publications said.

General Cavoli studied Russia and has a scientific degree of Master of Russian and Eastern European studies of the Yale University.

It is also expected that the head of the US Special Operations Complex, instead of General Richard Clark, will appoint General Brian Fanton, which is now heading the joint command of special US operations. Candidates must approve the Senate.

According to the publication, personnel permutations are associated with the fact that the Pentagon wants to switch attention to “on everyday military threats” – such as China. It is also planned that American special forces will “return to more traditional roles” and will be engaged in particular, by training foreign mercenaries.
