Heads of parliaments of Turkey and Azerbaijan signed protocol

The Chairman of the Great National Assembly (Parliament) of Turkey Mustafa Schentop held in Ankara a meeting with the speaker of Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan Sahibo Gafarova.

The parties held negotiations in one on one and in an expanded composition. Then the “Cooperation Protocol” was signed between the great national assembly of Turkey and the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, Schentop expressed gratitude for the comprehensive support provided by Azerbaijan during the elimination of the consequences of February earthquakes in the southeast of Turkey.

He emphasized that relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan are based on the principle of “two states, one nation.” Schentop noted that two countries come from a common position to resolve issues facing them.

Sahiba Gafarova, in turn, also focused on close ties between Azerbaijan and Turkey. “We have common ideas and uniform goals with Turkey,” said the speaker.

She emphasized that Türkiye has always been next to the people of Azerbaijan.

On Thursday, April 27, the delegation, led by Sahiba Gafarova, arrived on a working visit to Ankara to participate in the XII plenary meeting of the parliamentary assembly of the Turkic states.
