Hidden Prayer Room With Mihrab Of XIV Century Was Found In Nevchekhir

In the village of Tashkynpash (Nevchekhir Province), archaeologists discovered a prayer room with a stone mihrably cut in a rock, whose age is estimated at about 600 years. The object was found during superficial studies conducted by the scientists of the Department of Arts of the University of Haji Bektash conducted.

the structure was indoors, which a local resident used as a woodpecker. After its clearing, experts revealed the elements of the architecture characteristic of the bayliki period – in particular, high -quality masonry and decorative mihrambrail niche.

by preliminary evaluation of researchers, the object may belong to the Eretneta period in Turkey. Moreover, in the scientific literature the existence of this building was not previously mentioned. The building was well preserved, since for many years it remained hidden.

the site is located next to the complex, including a madrassah, mosque, mausoleum and dervish shelter, which has been studied since the 1960s, but this room has not previously been recorded in the descriptions.

Associate Professor Savash Marashly was fulfilled in technology and style, the associated Marahbrab, known since the time of the Seljuks and continued during the Beilics period. Associate Professor Alper Altyn added that an ongoing study should help establish the purpose of the premises. He admitted that the room was used as a small mosque, since the presence of a mihrab indicates the commission of prayers.

the owner of the site Mehmet Ersen said that in childhood he heard from the tourists that there could be a mosque inside, but so far no excavations were carried out there.
