Representatives of the diplomatic corps visited the center of the city of Gubadli. According to AzerTAc, presidential aide Hikmet Hajiyev said that the area was so destroyed during the occupation that it is difficult to determine where its center is.
He said that residential buildings were destroyed and were used by Armenia only for military purposes during the occupation period.
H. Hajiyev informed the diplomats about the history of the occupation of Gubadli.
“The occupation of Gubadli and Zangilan took place in very difficult conditions. Since Jabrail and Fizuli were occupied, it was difficult for people living in these areas to leave the region, they were surrounded. In such conditions, most of the civilian population was forced to cross the Araz River along the humanitarian corridor created by Iran. Many of them died on the river. This was an integral part of the genocide policy pursued by Armenia against the civilian population of Azerbaijan.
The expert groups visited Gubadli and assessed the amount of damage caused here, “Hajiyev said.
He also added that this city is important for Azerbaijan from a historical and cultural point of view, there were many religious cultural monuments, but they were destroyed: “I also want to say about the destroyed cemeteries in Jabrayil. In addition to the deliberate destruction of houses and property, we we see how the cemeteries were destroyed. “
