According to judicial documents and other information, 35-year-old Maryam Gasanova – a citizen of Azerbaijan arrived in the United States within the framework of the educational program. Her status has expired in March 2014, and Hasanova intended to obtain a legal residence permit (Green Card) in the country, concluding a fictitious marriage. For this, the girl agreed with a US citizen and paid him $ 15,000. Officially, they got married in October 2015 in New York.

Then Hasanova and US citizen appealed to the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) on the basis of a marriage concluded with a request to change the status of Hasanova and provide her permanent residence permit to the United States. Based on the statement of Hasanov and her “husband” were invited to an interview to the USCIS office. Both assured that their marriage was voluntary and real.

According to the results of the conversation, USCIS allowed Hasanova to reside in the United States. Having received a “Green Card”, she joined the ranks of the American army and, in addition to their salary, received a monthly rent provided for married women.
