Hungary parliament postponed ratification of Sweden membership in NATO until fall

Hungary postponed the Parliament session on the ratification of Sweden membership in NATO until the fall.

A deputy from the opposition democratic coalition of Agnes Vadai said that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and the Party of the Union of Hungarian Citizens do not plan to bring the issue of Sweden membership to NATO in the agenda of the upcoming session of the parliament.

Along with Vadai, another deputy of the parliament confirmed that the meeting on the consideration of the issue of Sweden membership to NATO was postponed to the fall.

A meeting of a high level on Sweden membership in NATO, in which the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Sweden and Finland will take part, will be held in Brussels on July 6th.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Finland will take part in the NATO summit for the first time as a member, which will take place in the capital of Lithuania Vilnius July 11-12.

He noted that they are working to complete the process of Sweden membership in NATO.
