Hungary will continue dialogue with Turkey at request of Sweden in NATO

Hungary and Turkey reached an agreement on the issue of information exchange at each stage of the process of Sweden joined NATO. This was announced by “Anadola” by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary Peter Siyyarto.

The Hungarian Minister spoke about the meeting with the Turkish colleague Hakan Fidan, during which the issue of Sweden membership in NATO was discussed.

“We agreed with Turkey to inform each other about the steps that we will be taken in the future on this issue,” he said.

Siyyarto noted that the Hungarian government supports Sweden membership in the Alliance, but the final decision remains with the State Assembly of Hungary (parliament), taking into account those “insults” that were inflicted by his country by the Stockholm authorities.

The Hungarian minister recalled that Budapest was constantly criticized and accusations from the Swedish politicians. “In particular, Sweden accused Hungary of” there is no democracy in the country, but there would be a dictatorship. Criticism of this kind is a good reason for the disapproval of Sweden membership in NATO, ”said Siyyarto.

At the same time, the Hungarian minister accused Sweden of interfering of the internal affairs of Hungary. “We never intervene in the internal affairs of other countries,” he emphasized.

In addition, the head of diplomacy noted that attempts to intervene in the internal affairs of Hungary took place not only from Sweden, but also the United States, as well as other European countries.
