IAEA Announced Start Of Repairs To Damaged Power Lines At Zaporozhye NPP

Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi announced the start of repairs to damaged power lines supplying the Zaporozhye NPP.

“Work has begun to restore the external power lines of the Zaporozhye NPP after a four-week outage,” Grossi wrote on the social network of the American company X.

He noted that repairs became possible after “the establishment of local ceasefire zones.”

“Restoring external power supply is critical to ensuring nuclear safety and protecting the facility. Both sides have worked constructively with the IAEA to ensure the implementation of a complex repair plan,” the head of the IAEA said.

Meanwhile, at the plant reported that the staff of the Zaporozhye NPP, together with specialists from the Rosseti company, began repair and restoration work on the damaged high-voltage power transmission line 750 kV Dneprovskaya.

The last operating high-voltage power transmission line 750 kV Dneprovskaya was disconnected on September 23. From that moment on, the station was completely cut off from external power supply.

Zaporozhye NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. The nuclear power plant has been under Russian control since the beginning of March 2022. Ukraine and Russia accuse each other of shelling the Zaporizhia NPP.
