Ilham Aliyev: Armenia twice refused to hold meetings on delimitation of borders

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said that Armenia twice refused to hold meetings on division of borders.

“Azerbaijan created a working group in a timely manner and was ready to send a delegation. This was agreed with the Armenian side. By the way, to hold the first meeting with the border, offered the Armenian Foreign Ministry. Azerbaijan accepted this proposal, and we were ready to send a delegation. However The last day – April 29 – Armenia canceled the already agreed meeting. This was very disappointed. Even more disappointment, again on the basis of the initial proposal of Armenia, caused Armenia’s refusal to hold a new meeting on the border on May 7-11, ”Ilham Aliyev said according to the results of negotiations With the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauceda.

He noted that Baku expects from Yerevan any new date to start work, but hopes for a responsible approach in this matter.

“We are waiting for any new dates from Armenia in order to start work. Because such an irresponsible position, of course, causes concern,” said Aliyev.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan is always committed to his obligations, and expects the same from Armenia.

“Despite the specific optimism, such maneuvers and the very strange steps of the Armenian government, in fact, undermine the prevailing certain trust,” said Ilham Aliyev.
